Le nom : Claude Passot

L'adresse mail : claude.passot@insa-lyon.fr

Nationalité : Française

He was born in France and has spend all his live in this country. He has lived in Lyon since 1989 and around 25 years ago he was looking for an internship. Randomly, he found a job offer for INSA and after going through all the selection process, he ended up being hired as a responsible for outgoing students at the organisation office of INSA.

After few years, he switch to a different position in the Industrial Engineering department (GI), more specifically, as a secretary of the department, taking care of the exchange students processes.

He is going to retire next year, thus, he does not have any aspirations linked to his career or any intention to change his job position during the next few years nor to implement new changes in the way he work. Nevertheless, he likes his job and for the last 25 years he has done similar tasks so he is expert in exchange students procedures.

He works from monday to wednesday from 8h to 17h, and you will most likely find him in his office. He is also very attentive to the email.

Since he started at INSA, new technologies have emerged, thus, his job addapted to it. Even though the youngest workers do not print anymore documents and have replaced them for online or electronic format files, he still finds more practical to print copies of the documents. The main outils he use to work will be explain in the next chapter, but broadly, the ones he use the most are PEGASE, which is the platform used to apply at INSA and email to comunicate with the others.

Knowledge management dans l'entreprise

-PEGASE: It is used for the students to apply to INSA. They keep all the personal information of all INSA members in this tool. You can find information regarding previous studies before applying to INSA, familly status, birthday, gender, full name and others.

-ADE: Platform used for time planning and scheuling. Students can find the time table of each course, the language of the course, the professors that will held each session, the type of session (TP, TD, Evaluation). There is also the possibility to export the generated calendar to other apps, such as Google calendar.

-Moodle: An open-source learning management system that gives teachers a flexible online environment in which to design, organize, and present their classes. Moodle's intuitive interface makes it easier for teachers and students to communicate, and it provides tools like forums, tests, and file sharing to improve the quality of education at INSA. With the help of this platform, INSA may personalize their virtual classrooms, monitor student progress, and promote cooperative learning in a virtual setting.

-Email: An extensively utilized technology for communication that enables online message and digital file exchanges. Email systems are commonly equipped with functionalities like attachments, forwarding, and organizing tools, which facilitate efficient and productive communication in diverse situations.

-Other tools in paper (For example, contrat d'etudes): In the context of academic knowledge management, a variety of paper instruments are required. These papers provide as physical records for official correspondence, administrative procedures, and academic agreements. They support the thorough arrangement of data, guaranteeing that important information about student records, administrative choices, and academic planning is safely stored and readily available.

INTERVIEW SUMMARY

The interview was carried out in person in Claude Passot’s office. It was firstly asked about his personal information because it was thought to be more accurate to start from that part. It continued asking about the company itself and finally the questions regarding knowledge management were asked. The interview lasted around 21 minutes and it was recorded to summarize afterwards the information received.

As said before, the first part was the personal information about Claude Passot. All the personal aspects such as his career and how he got to start working at INSA were answered. Finally, it was decided not to ask about the personal age, the earnings and information it was thought to be more private.

Secondly it was asked how the company worked itself. It could be understood how the different INSAs across the country work separately, but at the same time there is a common management. And the same level of management for the different departments at INSA Lyon.

Finally, the questions regarding Knowledge Management, the most important topic, were asked. Claude is not an expert in the field, but he managed to answer most of our questions. It could be seen the evolution in the field through the years. Claude has been working for several years in the university, and he has realized the changed that have been applied. At the beginning he was mostly communicated with his job colleagues by paper or faxes, but thanks to the new ways of communication everything was way faster. He mentioned some software such as: pegase, intranet, insa email, ade, moodle and so on. All of them facilize the communication in between the company and its workers. Although the new development, Claude still uses a lot of paper and as he would be retired soon, he is not that interested in implementing new tools. This would be a task for the newcomers. In general, it can be said that the company applies efficient ways of communication for its workers, and it is everything interconnected, making able most of the workers to receive the information they need.

In general, the questionnaire went well, besides the deeper information regarding Knowledge Management. However, the knowledge of the students about the field in the university was improved.
